Adjective ผสม เป็นการผสมคำกันโดยคั้นด้วย ‘-’ เมื่อผสมกันแล้วยังคงทำหน้าที่เป็น Adjective มีด้วยกัน 4 แบบ
1. Adj –Nounที่เติม ed หรือ ing
เช่น
- A blue-eyed girl – ผู้หญิงที่มีตาสีฟ้า
- การเขียนแบบนี้จะให้คำที่กระชับกว่า A girl that has a blue eye.
- A four-legged animal – สัตว์ที่มี 4 ขา
- A fast-growing company – บริษัทที่มีการเติบโตเร็ว
- He is good-looking.
- I’m very easy-going.
- He’s wearing a short-sleeved shirt.
2. Adv-V3
เช่น
- Well-known people – คนที่เป็นที่รู้จักเป็นอย่างดี
- Above-mentioned sentences – ประโยคที่กล่าวไปข้างต้น
- A beautifully-decorated room – ห้องที่ตกแต่งอย่างสวยงาม
- A well-done job
- A well-written story
- A badly-paid job
3. Noun-V3
เช่น
- A home-made cake – เค๊กที่ทำเอง
- A heart-broken girl – ผู้หญิงที่อกหัก
4. Number-singular noun (นามเอกพจน์)
เช่น
- A ten-minute walk – การเดิน 10 นาที
- A second-hand car – รถมือสอง
- A ten-dollar note – ธนบัตร 10 ดอลล่าร์
- A 18-year-old boy – เด็กอายุ 18 ปี (*** year ไม่ต้องเติม s)
- It’s a fifteen-minute drive to the park.
- A four-star hotel
- There was a two-hour delay of our flight.
